Shows Northwest LLC and Seattle Fashion Incubator are pleased to announce their collaboration for the fall 2011 Northwest Fabric & Notions Show.  Scheduled for September 9th and 10th at the Spirit of Washington Event Center located at 233 Burnett Avenue South in Renton, the show is a key component of revitalizing the industry in the Pacific Northwest.

For eighteen years the Northwest Fabric and Notions show has been connecting Seattle’s designers, craft stores, retailers and manufactures in the apparel and home furnishings industries with suppliers.  Plans are currently been formulated to elevate the Northwest Fabric and Notions show into the premier regional event for the industry in the Pacific Northwest.

With the fourth highest concentration of fashion designers in the country according to U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics information there is no reason why local businesses should have to fly to Los Angeles, New York or Las Vegas to source suppliers.  With the addition of SFI’s resources and dedication to revitalizing this once proud Seattle industry the vision is to elevate the show to the level of similar shows such as TexWorld USA in New York and the International Textile Expo in Las Vegas.

Emerald City Fashion Week regretfully announces that due to the poor economic conditions we are having to postpone our premier event scheduled for September 2010.  Despite the best efforts and hard work of a team dedicated to revitalizing the fashion industry in the Puget Sound ECFW was not able to raise the necessary funding to put on an event the region could be proud of.

“The last year of planning and building relationships with civic and industry leaders has only strengthened our resolve to bring a fashion week to the region that is truly about the business of fashion,” Says Steven Paul Matsumoto. “Everyone we talk to supports our vision of seeing SODO and Georgetown becoming a thriving garment district full of design houses, but the current economic state has made it difficult to translate those words of support into something tangible.  Our short relationship with the Robert Chinn Foundation has already had tangible results, and we look forward to restructuring ECFW and coming back stronger next year.”

Emerald City Fashion Week’s mission is to revitalize the apparel industry in the Pacific Northwest by combining educational opportunities, runway shows, and events to bring awareness to the local designer scene.

Emerald City Fashion Week is pleased to announce Jazmin Whitley’s participation as a featured designer. Jazmin Whitley, designer of the Li Cari clothing label, is excited to be part of ECFW and to help support local talent. Jazmin Whitley launched her clothing label “Li Cari” during Los Angeles Fashion Week in 2006 at the age of 17 and depended on sales from local boutiques to help her grow her company. Now 21, Jazmin Whitley is a world renowned designer who is giving back by helping and supporting local designers and local boutiques. Featured in W Magazine, Seventeen, Teen Vogue, as well as on the cover of Santa Monica Sun and California Apparel News, Jazmin Whitley is the star of “House of Jazmin,” a documentary about the life of a young fashion designer.
