Time: 8:30 am

Think Masters, US Open, British Open, PGA Championship - the holy grail of golf - not to be missed. WBBA's Sixth Annual Golf Invitational is the only funding event of 2010 directly benefiting the industry's political action committee - the WBBA BIOPAC. A strong BIOPAC helps increase the life science sector's voice in Washington state government. WBBA's BIOPAC makes contributions to state legislative candidates and those seeking statewide office. This benefit year is particularly important because half of the seats in the state Senate and all of the seats in the House are on the line. The outcome will impact the life sciences and the state's business climate. This year's event will be held September 13 at the private Fairwood Golf & Country Club in Renton. We play a scramble format and all skill levels are welcome. Tee time is 8:30 a.m. and be sure to meet us on the 19th hole for food, drink, awards and prizes.

The discovery and identification of a new molecular entity (NME) and the application of research required to show a proof-of-principle for a therapeutic agent can be rife with pitfalls and it is extremely difficult to qualify a new prospect for venture funding. This presentation will take the audience from early discovery, the demonstration of efficacy, drug/biologic agent exposure, early candidate selection, and the preclinical safety aspects which are often missed by startups. In addition, we will discuss scale-up and impurity issue considerations for the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) during the development phases through late stage drug/biologic development, selection of a preclinical safety evaluation partner, API supply, and regulatory filings. Moderator: Dr. Stephen Frantz, Senior Director of Business Development, Pacific Northwest, MPI Research, Inc. Panelists: Dr. David Brewster, Vice President & Senior Safety Expert for Global Non-Clinical Safety, F. Hoffman-La Roche Jerry Moore, MS, Co-Founder & Vice President, Pharmacology & Pharmacokinetics, Pacific BioDevelopment Dr. Richard Slauter, Senior Director of Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics, MPI Research, Inc.
