James Donaldson joins the College Success Foundation as the new Tacoma Director
Donaldson is the owner and director of The Donaldson Clinic, a Seattle-based outpatient physical therapy clinic. He is also a former N.B.A. basketball player, having played for the Seattle Supersonics, San Diego/L.A. Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, and Utah Jazz.
Donaldson is a strong advocate for women and minority-owned businesses and is very involved with community activities and various Chambers of Commerce. He frequently conducts speaking engagements for organizations, schools, and youth groups. He is the author of the soon to be published book “Standing Above the Crowd.” He is also a Washington State University graduate.
Donaldson believes in being a role model of success and professionalism for the scores of young people to whom he devotes so much of his time. He says, “I believe in developing relationships that create a Win-Win” environment for everyone involved and being the best I can be.”
He currently serves on many local boards /committees, including Communities in Schools (Tacoma), The Urban League-Tacoma, NAACP (Tacoma), Tacoma-Pierce County Black Collective (Tacoma) and the College Success Foundation’s supporting organization-Washington State Mentors.
With support from Tacoma community partners, the College Success Foundation Tacoma serves students in all five comprehensive public high schools and all ten public middle schools in the Tacoma School District.
“James will provide leadership in the Tacoma community to double the number of Tacoma’s low-income students who graduate from high school and attend and graduate from college, said Bob Craves, College Success Foundation Founder and CEO. “As the director of our Tacoma office, he will work closely with the Tacoma School District.

The College Success Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization formed to provide low-income and underserved students the scholarships, mentoring and educational supports necessary for them to attend the post-secondary institutions of their choice.
