Southcenter Ben & Jerry’s Celebrates Annual Free Cone Day –March 23rd

Posted by kims in Articles, Events

More than three decades ago a small, mom and pop ice cream stand opened on a cool spring day in Burlington, Vermont. On their one year anniversary they gave away free cones just to say “thanks” and give back to the community.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same,” said Rhett Russell , Manager of the Southcenter Ben & Jerry’s.

The local Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop located at 2800 Southcenter Mall continues the long-standing tradition with free cones for all from noon-  8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23rd.

“We’ve got some great new flavors for you to try,” beamed Russell, whose team busily prepared for the big day to serve up the latest super-premium quality, values-led flavors. “My personal favorite is Chocowlate Chip, but you’re welcome to get back in line and try them all!” added Russell.

The launch of the 2010 Scoop Shop line-up includes:

  • Milk & Cookies – After the company’s recent announcement of its commitment to a full Fair Trade line-up, this new flavor is leading the pack using Fair Trade ingredients. Vanilla Ice Cream with a Chocolate Cookie Swirl, Chocolatey Chip & Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie Pieces.
  • Chocowlate Chip – Fair Trade Certified Vanilla Ice Cream with Fudge Cows. (Available in Scoop Shops only)
  • Peanut Brittle – Peanut Brittle Ice Cream with Peanut Brittle Pieces and a Caramel Swirl.
  • Maple Blondie – Maple Ice Cream with Blonde Brownie Chunks and a Maple Caramel Swirl - all in honor of Olympic Medalist Hannah Teter!

The Southcenter Ben & Jerry’s will partner with Washington State Patrol Memorial Foundation to raise awareness and support for their organization. Along with the new flavors, the shop is poised to showcase Ben & Jerry’s Joe, a new collection of delicious frozen and iced coffee drinks, available the day after Free Cone Day. If that’s not enough, more “Scoop Shop only” flavors will be released in 2010.
